Making the good even better - that's how quality works for us! Quality management is a continuous process towards more perfection.
Pascal Ruda, Quality Manager at Masterduct, provides the answer to this question in an interview.
Quality management is much more exciting than you think. I'm a very structured person who likes to think in terms of processes. I simply enjoy improving processes, convincing people, bringing them along and supporting them in the process.
ISO 9001 is the most important quality standard for us. It is an international standard with systematic requirements for a professional management system in companies. It is based on the basic model PLAN, DO, CHECK and ACT and includes the organizational structure and process organization of a company as a supporting structure. It is regularly developed further internationally and is one of the standards in the professional league.
In addition to the internal audits, which serve to check the individual processes and systems for conformity with standards, the energy audit in accordance with DIN EN 16247 is carried out at specific and legally prescribed intervals. Furthermore, we successfully completed an automotive customer audit at the end of 2022 and a fish farming certification (NS 9416:2013) at the beginning of 2023.
No, absolutely not. Quality management is an ongoing process, and the QM system should support the processes that are actually lived and not just serve as documentation for the audit.
One essential instrument, for example, is the continuous improvement process (CIP). This way of thinking is intended to achieve continuous improvement with the most sustainable effect possible within the company. CIP refers to improvements in product, process and service quality and is implemented through a process of continuous small improvement steps.
Quality should be lived in all departments, which is why all employees should be involved in quality management. In production, for example, almost every employee at our company is trained to check quality. Through regular presence in production, we ensure greater safety in the production process and thus avoid errors and subsequent complaints.
